Matilde Casazola Mendoza (born 1942) is a Bolivian songwriter. Matilde was one of the most famous poets and songwriters of Bolivia. She managed to bring together poetry and music, writing songs that were rooted in the musical tradition of her country. She started to become famous at age 11 by her poems.She was born in the city of Sucre. She was a teacher by trade, her compositions have been adapted and recorded by Bolivian artists such as Emma Junaro, Luis Rico and Jenny Cardenas. Her legacy includes the following works: Los ojos abiertos (1967), Los cuerpos (1967), Una revelación (1967), Los racimos (1985), Amores de alas fugaces (1986), Estampas, meditaciones, cánticos (1990) y El espejo del ángel (1991).
